As the Knights are getting to the latter stages of this years pre season, today I spoke with Knights head physiotherapist Vicky Chapman to see how the squad are getting on in the injury department.

'It's gone pretty well really' referring to pre season so far, 'all the boys came back in, there was only a couple of injury worries really but most of them have cleared up by now' Vicky explained.

'As you know Planch injured his ankle at the end of last season, he had the operation soon after and has came back in and worked hard. He's nearly ready now to take part in full training again. We've been staggering his comeback and he's been coping ok with it so he should be fine for camp next week'.

'A couple of other players came back with minor knocks, Bevon came in with a groin problem but he had an operation in June and is doing ok now'. 'Dougie & Andy the two wingers have both recently had slight hamstring injuries but both are nearly back to full running speed & Adam Kettle's elbow swelled up to literally the size of a tennis ball recently after a problem with some fluid behind the bone, but its gone down again and he's back in training now'.

'There's been a couple of other knocks and little injuries but nothing really to mention, today though, Roger Davies managed to drop a weight disc onto his head somehow and has had to nip into A&E for a few stitches but he should be alright'.

Moving onto the pre season as a whole I wanted to know how well Vicky thought it had gone and if there had been any changes to last years with the introduction of a few new faces at Castle Park.

'Overall I think it's been one of the better pre seasons we've had. I'm very optimistic that everyone who's got a slight injury at the moment will be taking some part at least in camp next week'.

'As the players came back in we screened them to find out their strengths and weaknesses and Kat's done a lot working with the players letting them know what they can do to prevent any recurrence and other injuries occurring. The pre-hab exercises have since become more of a one on one session instead of the group sessions like last year so that each player is only doing what is going to be more beneficial to them'.

'Scott has also been great in bringing in a lot more stability and has done a great job getting the players more focused on what they need to be doing on the fitness and conditioning side as well as doing a lot of the pre-hab work with Kat'.
