Gurkas V Guides Video
A detachment of Gurkhas took on the best of Doncaster Girl Guides today at Castle Park, as the first ever Armed Forces day Veterans celebration was held at the home of the Doncaster Knights.
Some of the new equipment that will be present to keep the children entertained was on show, as part of the Knights newly forged partnership with Army Recruitment and Army Cadet Force.
The Doncaster ACF Corps of Drums entertained alongside a ceremonial display from the Gurkha detachment. Part of the corps of Drums display may be incorporated into the matchday experience at Castle Park, negotiations are currently under way to have the Knights drummed out onto the pitch regimental style.
The entertainment highlight of the day was without doubt the tug of war competition, in which a heavily outnumbered group of Gurkhas attempted to stand their ground against a horde of Doncaster Girl Guides.
