For the second year in a row Doncaster Knights defeated the relegated Premiership side. Bristol lost the game during a ten minute spell before half time, with tries from Ali Warnock & Chris Hallam putting the home side on the front foot.

Bristol came out of the traps flying and went ahead with an unconverted try from hooker Ross Johnston. Adrian Jarvis then added a penalty for the visitor’s only minutes after. After a ten minute onslaught the home side got on the score board thanks to a Warnock penalty. The first try came on the half hour, a sublime break from captain Steve Lawrie freed Bevon Armitage to find Warnock on the inside to go over. Warnock added the conversion. Five minutes later he put the Knights into the lead, punishing a mistake from the visitors. Chris Hallam scored the second try, breaking from halfway unopposed after a great run from flanker Adam Kettle. Warnock again added the conversion.

Jarvis reduced the lead by three points with a penalty shortly after the break only for Warnock to put over a drop minutes after to restore parity. Jarvis again added a penalty midway through the half which was replied this time with a drop goal from full back Stevie McColl from inside his own half. Dan Norton scored the try of the game late on to set up a nervous finish. But the Knights stood firm through an astonishing thirteen minutes of injury time to hold on for their win.
