“The season starts here” must be the view of 12th placed Knights as 10th placed Coventry visit Castle Park this Saturday for a 3pm kick off looking to take advantage of the injury decimated South Yorkshire side.
With the likes of Chris Planchant and inspirational Full Back Anthony Carter still sidelined and 2 further injures sustained against Nottingham the threadbare squad of the Doncaster Knights must once again try to stand up and be counted.
Coventry have their opening day win over Rotherham to thank for their 10th place position, and Doncaster’s injury situation is so severe their Season is yet to kick into gear. Last Saturday against Nottingham Assistant Coach Brett Davey was forced to register himself into the Knights squad to complete the matchday 22, allowing the game to go ahead. With the Knights facing more injuries picked up from the bruising encounter last weekend and the potential of player suspensions beginning to bite the time for true heroics is seemingly this coming Saturday.
Despite being ahead of Schedule the likes of inspirational Full Back Anthony Carter and back row player Chris Planchant are still not back from the injury list, leaving the Knights Director of Rugby with a real selection headache, and not a positive one by any means.
The game itself is sponsored by and dedicated to the Knights thriving mini junior rugby section, one of the biggest in the North of England. As part of this a mini fairground has been booked for pitchside as well as the family fun of a Karaoke session being booked in the concourse bar of the De Mulder Lloyd stand after the match.
