A mix of original and tribute bands have been planned, working in conjunction with DDJ Agency (www.ddj-agency.co.uk) who provide DJ’s and entertainments for the Castle Park venue. The first band, and date, has been announced as Friday the 30th October featuring the number one Commitments tribute band : The Kommitments!

One of the most popular films of its genre, the Commitments movie told the story of people from all walks of live who formed a band called “ The Commitments” – the saviours of soul.
Based on the novel by Roddy Doyle, originally a schoolteacher in deprived North Dublin, The Commitments is something of a rags-to-riches story that sees the group fall just short of stardom - mainly due to inter-band bickering - but offers them a glimpse of hope.
It is through the wily leadership of ambitious manager Jimmy Rabbitte (Robert Arkins) that the band comes together, and his influence directs the Commitments' soul sound. It seems a perplexing choice - how can a bunch of white, North Dublin teenagers identify with a predominantly African-American style of music?

From their website : “ The Kommitments feature the same commitment to their music, with the instantly recognizable horn section and that sweet soul rhythm section. On their ongoing journeys they undoubtedly continue where the movie left off, still spreading the word of Otis Redding and Wilson Picket and the other apostles of soul. In doing this they enable us all to experience the essence of…

Sweet Soul Music.

Friday the 30th of October you can relive the memories of the film, or simply be entertained by a fantastic band playing classics from the likes of Wilson Picket and Otis Redding.
Tickets are a discount £10 in advance, or £12 on the door and can be obtained from Castle Park. You can call the venue or 01302 831388 or the promoters of the DDJ Agency on 07533 900155 or 07711 886889.
