Howells names squad.
With a worsening injury list dictating many positional choices Doncaster Knights Director of Rugby Lynn Howells has announced a team for Saturday from a squad down to the Bare Bones. With even stalwart Tongan Prop Ngalu Tau failing to pass the fitness test for this Saturdays game against Nottingham, the Knights have struggled to line up the 22 remaining fit players in the squad into position .
Roger Davies back in at Fullback will give a foundation for the back line to build on, and Flockhart’s brace of tries last weekend built his confidence in a Knights shirt. Boyde returns at number 8 and Griffiths into the Second Row leaving Dan Smith on the bench as the sensible cover for both positions. D’Arcy and Warnock look to begin a partnership in the midfield as the unlucky Nicky Griffiths will face up to 6 months sidelined due to a shoulder injury sustained against Moseley.
In the front row Steve Boden not only returns to action, but inherits the Captains armband as the injury list has now generated the need for a 3rd captain in 3 games. He will be book ended by the impressive young Tongan International Toma Toke and local favourite Michael Cusack, the pair known for their no nonsense and committed work in the front row and breakdowns.
The game kicks off at 3pm Saturday, and as well as it being “Ladies Day at Castle Park the Knights “ Army Zone” is in action for this game. The Army Zone is free of charge for Children who have a ticket into the game, and includes the infamous Climbing Tower as well as the new Assault Course to challenge the Junior of Doncaster.
