Knights issue fourth challenge

For the fourth time this season Doncaster Knights will issue a challenge to the Chiefs, each meeting so far this season producing thrilling Rugby but proving a quest to far for the South Yorkshire side.

The Knights will pick themselves up once more and charge headlong into Sandy Park, looking to overturn such an agonisingly close result last weekend and come away with the win.

“Although we were disappointed with the result, none of the players were embarrassed with our performance” Knights second row Glen Townson said after the 21 points to 19 loss in round 3 of the playoffs, “We will have to bring more of the good stuff from the last game” was his only comment on the upcoming contest at the home of the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are a scalp yet to be taken by Director of Rugby Lynn Howells at this level, and there will be no more important contest than this coming weekend as Doncaster will need this game to level the playing field. Three times this season Howells has pushed his side onto great performances against Exeter but sadly to no avail, the biggest reward for all their efforts a losing bonus pint.

Exeter and Nottingham both broke the chain of “win at home” results which are key to this type of competition. This weekend the Knights will need to match that result to give themselves the best chance of advancing to a second semi final this season.
