Doncaster Knights take on Rotherham Titans in the British and Irish Cup at Castle Park with a 3pm kick off this Sunday. Director of Rugby Lynn Howells has had his hand forced with squad changes due to an increasing injury list and this has meant bringing in an extra dual registration player from Leeds Carnegie, Oliver Denton. Winger Denton, who was down to make his debut in the postponed game against Birmingham and Solihull, is now poised to meet the Castle Park fans in the South Yorkshire Derby part 2.
With the unfortunate injury to Ed Jackson in the Worcester game meaning he could be out for up to 10 weeks Howells has taken the bold move of starting Matt Challinor at 6, while Andy Wright and Dougie Flockhart are also featured in less familiar positions.
A Half Back partnership of Christian Lewis Pratt and Nathan Jones is a new starting partnership of the 2010-11 Season, while the fresh faced combination of Dom Parsons and James Craig gives an incredibly mobile second row pairing for Doncaster. “Super Sub” Parsons has already distinguished himself over 80 minutes as well as from the bench so this British and Irish Cup game will see him as enthusiastic as ever.
Lewis Thiede joins Steve Boden and Dan Frazier in the front row, the young home grown prop having his biggest season at Doncaster so far.
