The iron clad secrecy around Doncaster Knights pre season training has been breached causing a rethink of anti espionage techniques at Castle Park. As everyone knows Doncaster Knights open their pre season campaign in deepest darkest Cornwall, so this weekends mystery visitor has many thinking there may be some intelligence gathering by our opening weekend opponents the Cornish Pirates.
Pirates, as we know, rely heavily on their trusty Parrots for information gathering and on Saturday evening a Birthday party taking part in the Lansdowne suite was invaded by this suspiciously Parrot looking character.
“During the celebration the Parrot, presumably having completed its intelligence gathering mission, flew into the Lansdowne Suite looking for refreshment before its journey back South and actually settled on the head of one of the event guests”. General manager Neil Holmes explained.
Obviously requiring sustenance for the long journey back to its Pirate base at the Mennaye, the bird had made its way to the Lansdowne Suite bar but hadn’t counted on Castle Park Counter intelligence agent ( and Assistant General Manager) Matt “Shaken not stirred” Stokom.
“Eventually we got the interloper to sing like a canary, using a mix of psychology and peanuts” Stokom told us regarding the birds capture.
The undercover agent was kept as comfortable as possible overnight in a secure changing room, and was handed over to anti espionage RSPCA agents Sunday.
