Pontrypridd preview

News Archive

Wednesday will be 8 games in 25 days and counting.
Our next opponents in the B & I Cup are Pontypridd, and then it’s the Rotherham Titans on Saturday.

Pool A leaders, Cornish Pirates by a points difference of 13 over Newport
Pool B leaders, Munster
Pool C leaders, London Welsh
Pool D leaders, Doncaster

So far the Knights lead the Pool D table with 3 wins out of 3. All other Pool leaders have played 4 games but only Minster A, who top Pool B have won all of their games. In their 4 wins, Minster A have only collected 1 bonus point, the Knights have collected 3 already. In fact the Knights have 15 points, the same as the joint leaders of Pool A that have played 4 games. (Cornish Pirates & Newport).

Pontypridd are 3rd in the Welsh Principality Premiership league table with the strongest defence in the league. They’ve leaked less than 14 points over their 17 league games. The Knights similarly have a strong defence and have leaked nearly 17.5 points per game averaged over 20 league games. Point scoring has seen Pontypridd average over 24 points per game and the Knights average just over 18 points per game.

Next Saturday Pontypridd play Birmingham & Solihull Bees, so a victory over the Knights would ease the pressure on Saturday as the Bees seek their first win.
Last Saturday Pontypridd beat Ayr, so can they make it 2 in a row or can the Knights make it 4 out of 4, especially by gaining the winning bonus point?
