Yorkshire Cup Update

Whilst the Doncaster Knights continue their superb battles on the both the League and B&I Cup fronts, three of the junior sides have, following what is for the club a barren patch in terms of County Cup competitions, progressed to the semi final stages of their respective cup competitions.

The Yorkshire Cup, whilst being one of the oldest cup competitions in the land, is much equally regarded at mini, junior and colts levels. Currently the under 16’s, 15’s and 14’s have all reached the semi finals, with the under 16’s being drawn at home on the 21st March against some tough opposition in the form of Whitby. Whitby beat Acklam, Yarnbury, Sandal and Old Rishworthians along the way and in doing so have reached the highest level ever in the competition.

Doncaster have had an equally tough round of games beating Wharfedale, Sheffield and Scarborough and in reaching the semi finals are following a number of previous successful Doncaster under 16’s sides. The under 15’s have been drawn at home with the opposition being a formidable Harrogate side. Their game will be played on March 28th. In reaching the semi finals, Doncaster had the tightest of wins against a determined West Park Leeds side with a scoreline of 7-8. Harrogate had an easier win with a 7-44 win over Malton and Norton.
Beating West Park Leeds 0-34 the Doncaster under 14’s had an easier time than the older age grouping when visiting the West Park Bramhope based clubs excellent facilities. They in turn face a difficult home fixture on March 7th against Middlesborough who like Doncaster have a very strong and thriving junior section.

So if you want to see who the potential Knights players of the future are, why not come down on these Sundays in March and watch what we hope will be some excellent junior games of rugby.
