
Hot on the heels of the signings of Dom Parsons and Latu Makaafi Howells brings experience into the Centre of the back line with the acquisition of Paul Devlin from the British and Irish Cup winning Cornish Pirates.
Devlin, who has top flight experience with clubs such as Munster and Sale Sharks also played representative Rugby for England U18 and 19 sides before switching to the Ireland U21 setup.
29 year old Devlin, who stand 5’11” and weights in at 14 stone 8 is currently studying for his masters degree in strength and conditioning and intends to arrive before pre season to set up for his new dual role as Player / Fitness Coach.
“I’m looking forward to not just working with the players, but looking at what can happen with other coaches and trainers in the Town” Paul Told us, “ from when I arrive I’m hoping to build some good new friendships with other coaches as well as fans and new team mates”.
Born in St. Helen's, Paul first played Junior rugby in the 13 man code aged 6 switching to the Union version of the game at the age of 17.
Joining Sale Sharks in 1999 he went on to captained England U18s (Clubs), playing also Premiership and European Shield matches during his time with the Sharks. He also played for England U19s in the World Cup.
From July, 2003 - October, 2004, Paul played rugby league for Widnes Vikings in the 'Super League', and for Ireland RL, besides also going on loan back to Sale in 2003 as cover for Jason Robinson in England's successful Rugby World Cup year.
Two seasons followed with Munster, playing in the Celtic League and Heineken Cup. Devlin marked his debut with a try against the Cardiff Blues.
