Knights Under 17s player Sam Allen has earned the chance to attend an England Under 18 trial after an impressive season of representative rugby.
Having played for England Under 16 last season, Sam’s development continued this year with him being named as part of both the Yorkshire and North of England Under 18 squads. He will now play for the North in an inter-regional tournament held at Broadstreet Rugby Club which will also serve as a trial for potential England players.
The trials will be held on the weekend of 17/18 February and everyone at the club wishes Sam the best of luck.
The Under 17s have seen 16 other members of their 36-strong squad go on to achieve representative honours this season.
Rory Kynman, Lewis Starbuck, George Wood, Frazer Botham, Jack Thompson and Max Outram were chosen to be part of the 31-player Yorkshire Under 17 squad for the inter-county competition after they impressed selectors while representing South Yorkshire in the district championship. The side went on to celebrate a 41-0 victory over Warwickshire at Broadstreet Rugby Club.
They were joined at the district event by 10 other boys from the Doncaster team who were all playing for South Yorkshire – Mitchell Ashman, Angus Botting, Henry Cotton, James Farmer, Josh Fowler, Sam Godfrey, Joe Gomes, Oliver Mackintosh, James Newson and Oliver Wilds.
Well done to all the players involved.
