Knights’ boss Brett Davey has named the strongest possible squad to take on London Welsh in their twice re-arranged fixture tomorrow at Old Deer Park.

The Welshman has made five changes to his starting line-up that narrowly lost to near neighbours Rotherham Titans last Saturday with Toby Berridge handed his debut for the Knights.

Elsewhere Michael Heaney makes his first start to partner his former Ireland Under 20s half-back Gareth Quinn-McDonogh at nine, with Glen Kenworthy, Latu Makaafi and David Bradford brought back in.

“I don’t believe in picking a weaker team, we play every game to win and the two games this week will be no exception,” said Davey.

Doncaster face a short turn-around before their trip to Bristol on Friday night for the final stage 1 fixture, but Davey believes the chance for rotation may freshen the squad up ahead of the play-offs.

“This week will keep them on their toes and each player will get their chance to impress and keep a spot in the first team when the play-offs kick in.

“It’s a mini World Cup from here in and these games could give us a momentum in the knockout stage, but more than anything it relieves us of any pressure and will help us play the brand of rugby we are aiming for.”
