Moseley v Doncaster Knights on Saturday 3pm kick off
On a weekend when four of the leading group of six clubs face tougher assignments on paper (Rotherham host Pirates, Leeds are at Exeter, and Bedford are at Nottingham), the Knights return to the Midlands for a second successive week to face a Moseley side in 14th place in the table, with just two wins under their belts but always a difficult side on their new home turf at Billesley.
Clive Griffiths is forced to make two changes to the team that won so well last weekend in Birmingham. Glen Wilson, who has been playing the rugby of his life at number eight, has had an operation this week on an ankle and is likely to be out of action for several weeks. Fijian international Netani Talei replaces him. Another casualty of last weekend is centre Spencer Davey, forced to take a three week mandatory rest after concussion. Wes Davies moves from full back to centre, with Anthony Carter coming in to replace him.
John Rawson starts for a second week at prop, with Tongan Ngalu Tau on the bench. So too is new signing Neil Dowridge, a hooker from North Wales who was on Sale Shark’s books but made only the one Premiership start. He has joined on former Castle Park coach Kingsley Jones’ recommendation, following injury to both Scott Plevey and Ben Phillips. Dave Scully, who otherwise would have been in line for his 350th league appearance, has been allowed leave to take part in this week’s Bermuda Classics event.
