Knights v Chiefs on Saturday at CastlePark2.30pm

After two good wins on the road, where nine points out of ten were gathered, the Knights are back on home turf this Saturday knowing they will need a good performance to tame a full time Exeter side that has yet to realise its potential this season. They have already beaten two of the title contenders, Rotherham and Plymouth, demonstrating how they can boss a game on their day; but they have also lost at home to Waterloo, a result that caused bemusement around the league.

Skipper Jason Forster is a major doubt for Saturday’s clash. He has a bruised heel he picked up in the first half at Moseley and despite daily treatment he is not optimistic of being fit in time. A decision will be made as late as possible but Simon Grainger stands by. The only other change to the squad sees veteran Dave Scully back on the bench after playing in the Bermuda Classics tournament last week. Scully is expected to have some game time and it will be his 350th league appearance, a record in the English game. He has played in every season since leagues started in 1987. Last season he became only the third player ever to score 100 league tries.

Whether Forster declares fit or not will decide the shape of the bench, and one possibility is that former Sheffield Eagles winger Rob Worrincy will be called up from the “A” team where he has been learning the Union game and scoring tries on every appearance so far.

Knights: A Carter, P Bailey, W Davies, B Hunt, D Van Vuuren, M Woodrow, S Boden, J Rawson, L Gross, D Cook, R Earnshaw, J Forster/S Grainger, N Talei.

Bench: N Tau, N Dowridge, G Kenworthy, S Grainger/R Peacey, D Scully, J Benson, O Cook/R Worrincy.

Referee: Gareth Copsey (RFU).
