Exeter v Doncaster on Saturday 3.00pm

The Knights head off to the West Country for the third time this season, having drawn blank on previous visits to the Pirates and Plymouth. It will be their first visit to the new Sandy Park stadium.

Exeter Chiefs have lost just the once (to Leeds away in a close game) since early December, and only twice at home all season: to Leeds, and surprisingly to bottom club Waterloo in the early season before a resurgence of form. It will be a tough ask but perhaps the Chiefs will have one eye on their Twickenham EDF Trophy final, having disposed of Pertemps Bees in last weekend’s semi.

The Knights won the home game in November when they were in the midst of a long unbeaten run that took them to the top of the table at New Year. Since then, however, they have stuttered as Exeter have steadily improved. Perhaps surprisingly the bookies, Betfred, have the Knights as slight favourites for this one and to come home with the points would be a real boost ahead of the following week’s tribal battle against Rotherham!

Clive Griffiths makes two changes to the side that finally overcame Moseley two weeks ago. Prop John Rawson is recalled after injury in place of Ngalu Tau who is on the bench; and lock Bryn Griffiths gets the start he was denied two weeks ago when a back strain kept him out of the Moseley match.

Knights: B Gollings, P Bailey, B Hunt, J Cannon, D Van Vuuren, M Woodrow, B Jones, S Bunting, B Phillips, J Rawson, B Griffiths, G Kenworthy, R Earnshaw, J Forster, N Talei.

Bench: N Tau, S Boden, L Gross, S Grainger, D Storey, W Davies, O Cook.
