Scott Plevey receives trophy

Doncaster Knights turned their attention to the round ball on Sunday in a charity game against fellow rugby union side Doncaster Phoenix- with the real winner on the day being the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

More than 250 people turned up at Doncaster Town's Bennetthorpe ground for the 20/20 game and barbeque featuring the Knights and Phoenix, which officials are hoping will become an annual affair.

For the record, the Knights triumphed by 17 runs after scoring 179 - flanker Scott Gray taking the man of the match award for a hasty 25 and some frighteningly-quick bowling.Regular cricketer Simon Greenslade led Phoenix's reply, notching 80 in his side's valiant effort, including a 24-run over from the unfortunate Andy Ellis, as they finished on 162.

Money raised from the day will go to the Children's Hospice, Phoenix's nominated charity for the coming season. Pictured; Knights captain Scott Plevey and Phoenix's Paul Curzon view the Challenge Shield
