Match to Help Save Flood-Hit Adwick
ONE of the area's oldest rugby clubs takes to the pitch later this month - with more that just winning a match in mind.
Adwick le Street is taking on a Doncaster "All Star" side to raise funds to help save the club whose ground was submerged beneath ten feet of water during the height of the summer floods.The Toll Bar base that the Adwick club shares with Doncaster Amateur Rugby Club was under water for three weeks with hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage to the ground and clubhouse.
The club, which has been a stalwart of local leagues for more than 40 years, lost training and medical kit and memorabillia too.
Doncaster law firm Atteys has organised the match on Sunday, September 30 and the event at Castle Park, Armthorpe Road, will be co-hosted by Doncaster Rugby Club.
As well as the match itself the fun day will include will include entertainment for all the family. Tickets are £5 for adults, £2 for children, with a £10 family ticket for two adults and two children available. Tickets are available on the day.
