Exeter Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs v Doncaster Knights on Saturday at 3.00pm

The half way point in the season arrives this weekend, after which every one of the fifteen other sides will have been played, and for the Chiefs and the Knights it probably determines which of the two sides will remain within theoretical touching distance of runaway league leaders Northampton who have an eleven point cushion at the top and an easy match against the bottom club at Launceston on Saturday.

The form lines of the two sides are remarkably similar, both suffering just two defeats and both to Northampton and the Pirates. Sandy Park is a magnificent venue for such an important game with an excellent playing surface but is exposed and the forecast strong winds and heavy showers will certainly dictate the type of game on the day.

Lynn Howells gives a big vote of confidence to the players who performed so well against Rothereham last week by naming an unchanged starting line up. It means that young Chris Planchant keeps Scott Gray out of the side and that there is another start for Simon Bunting. The bench sees Tom Luke preferred to Wes Davies.
