The Bedford Blues will be looking to build on their 16-16 draw at Otley last weekend with a home win at Goldington Road where they are rarely defeated. They have a number of well known players in their ranks including Welsh star Emyr Lewis at centre, a new acquisition this summer. With the likes of Matt Allen and Craig Moir also among their backs, they commit to a fast wide style of rugby; and with the likes of Junior Paramore and Ali Heffer in their back row, Doncaster can expect a thorough examination of their defence and fitness on Saturday.
It is the first ever meeting of the two clubs and will be a tough ask for a Doncaster side still short of key players. Rob Liley needs another week off to heal his ankle injury: Michael Wood pulled an abductor muscle in his groin last weekend; and lock Glen Kenworthy had an accident at work and will miss one match. Ed Norris steps in and Jimmy Rule appears on the bench. On the credit side, Donavan Van Vuuren has been declared fit and makes his first start of the season on the wing. The side is otherwise the same as started against The Pirates last weekend.
Doncaster: J Boden, J Rothwell, B Hunt, D Murray, D Van Vuuren, J Benson, L Lane, S Bunting, J Roddam, S Barretto, E Norris, D Cook, R Earnshaw, S Grainger, O Cook.
Replacements: R List, S Plevey, T Davies, J Rule, D Montagu, C Harrison, D Ligairi.
Referee: C. Sharp (RFU).
