Cask Ales at Castle Park
With Cask Ales now being served at Castle Park as part of a “Guest Beer Season” we decided to talk to General manager Neil Holmes about his idea.
“I’m looking to bring several guest Beers to Castle Park over the coming months” General Manager Neil Holmes told us after Saturday’s successful launch of Fullers London Pride.
The launch of Neil’s selection of Cask Ales was a well thought out and timed process. Neil has a great experience of Fuller, Smith and Turner having spent 18 years of his career there. Starting as a Trainee Chef with the company Neil moved up the ranks to a General Manager in several divisions. “Because of my long association with Fuller, Smith and Turner I knew I wanted them involved”. What happened next was one of those coincidences that led to a great idea for a launch day.
Neil noticed that his launch would coincide with the EDF National Trophy game v Richmond. “After I realised that the name on their front of their shirt was Fullers London Pride it was obvious to me what I needed as my first Cask Ale”. The Ale was added to the bars at Castle Park and as the Richmond members and fans arrived it was clear it was going to be a success. “Just that extra touch of pouring a local beer made for a great afternoon” Neil told us. Neil intends to find other ales from time to time to match up with visiting fan’s tastes. Although it is only a small gesture Neil finds these things help the atmosphere of a game and give him a personal satisfaction of a job well done. “After a long journey, it was good for the visiting supporters to have a little taste of home”.
Fuller Smith and Turner will be Associate Sponsors for the Nottingham Game, and be present for other games at Castle Park. As other Guest Ales are made available we will sure to catch up with Neil Holmes to find out the how he came about choosing the ales for happy customers to sample.
