Doncaster RUFC Under 13's

Doncaster  17
Chesterfield  10  (Home)
(HT 12 - 0)

Tries - 3                       R. Mason,
J. Gomes, K. Blaydes
Conversions - 1            J. Scott (1)

This was a game
that, as the previous weeks, was affected by the weather with the wind howling
down the pitch in this encounter at Castle Park.

Both sides were well matched
overall but the Chesterfield pack had the edge up front.  However iot was
Doncaster who played the conditions better and ran out 17 - 0 victors
Doncaster started well fielding the kick off and made immediate headway into the
Bees half.  The forwards won clean possession and the backs moved it wide with
winger Ollie Wildes stopped just short of the try line.

The conditions made
the handling difficult with the game having numerous restarts through handling
errors.  Doncaster dominated the scrums losing only 3 all game and this platform
enabled Doncaster to dominate both territory and possession.

The first try
came mid way through the first half with Nos. 8 Harry Betts picking the ball up
from a scrum 10m out and driving through the Bees defence to cross in the
corner.  The second try came from a line out with 2nd rower Tom Hughes catching
the ball and driving through the line and sprinting 30m to score.  The third try
was scored by 2nd row Ryan Mason who after several phases of play collected the
ball through good support play to dive through the Bees defence and score near
the posts.  Joe Shakespeare converted.  The final try was scored by Ryan Mason
with another strong run breaching the Bees defensive line and scoring under the
posts.  Joe Shakespeare again converted the try.
