“They are not unbeatable” was the verdict on Northampton Saints from Lynn Howells this week.. “Last week we were unlucky with a few key decisions, this Sunday let’s see what luck will bring us.
Doncaster Knights prepare for this Sundays second game in 8 days at home against Northampton Saints with an almost unchanged side. The Knights Director of Rugby has made only one change to his lineup for the 2.30 kickoff , James Jones in for Oliver Cook, as the experienced Welsh Coach felt only small adjustments were needed to last weeks performance.
“The week before they played us they put 96 points past a team in our league” Lynn told us, “We restricted them to one try, and had one ourselves chalked off so wholesale changes aren’t the answer”.
Danger man Bruce Reihana, whose pin point penalty kicking tortured the Knights last week, will once again be captaining a side almost surely destined for Premiership Rugby next season. The runaway leaders retain the majority of their Premiership Stars and are not overly weakened by 6 Nations call ups. England’s Chris Ashton did not make the squad and is available for selection this week.
Tongan Prop Ngalu Tau will be a key man in the rucks and mauls this Sunday, and has just signed a 2 year extension this week. Tau commits himself to the Knights banner alongside giant American Lock Luke Gross and the talismanic Welshman Simon Grainger. Gross and Tau will help form huge pack alongside last weeks stand out player Bryn Griffiths. Ex Scarlet’s player Griffiths who came to Doncaster originally on loan is still a possibility for the Welsh setup having played under 19’s and 21’s for Wales, regular Rugby at Doncaster has only helped his cause.
