Tigers 0 - 68 Under 16s
12.02.2008

Injury and holidays had deprived Doncaster of a number of key players
as they travelled to Dore Moor on a beautiful spring like day, ideal for
fast flowing rugby. The coaches were expecting a tough battle after an
uncomfortable time in the home fixture earlier in the season, which
Doncaster eventually won 43 - 5. However, that was with a near full squad.
So, there was a certain amount of trepidation about this trip, with so
many players being unavailable. They need not have been concerned. The boys responded with a twelve try,
five star display that had everything, pace, power, support, good angles
and communication. 2 tries very early in the game set the tone and from
then on it was all one way traffic. Tigers never got a sniff of the
Doncaster line, despite their best efforts. Throughout the game,
Doncaster maintained discipline and composure on the ball and in
defence and were ruthless to the end, just what the coaches asked for. Tries were scored by Chris Green ( 3 ), who was almost unstoppable such
was his power and pace on the ball, Dan Morris ( 2 ), who showed some
mesmerising footwork and handling skills, Tom Underwood ( 2 ), and 1
each for Nick Wilson, Olly Prescott, who set the ball rolling with a
fine individual first try, Ryan Pilley, with a typical ' poachers
special ' off the back of a disrupted scrum, Mark Thompson and Dan Riley.Chris Williams converted only 4, which is unusual for Chris, but he
made up for it with a fine display at fly half, controlling the play
and keeping his team playing in the right areas of the field. Special mention must also go to Nick Wilson who was asked to play out
of position at Full Back for most of the game and who responded with
a top drawer performance, and to Joe Gibbins and Lewis Jenkins, who
had their best games in Doncaster colours, all ably led by Captain
Joe Kingham.
