John Cannon joins Doncaster
Doncaster have pulled off a real coup by signing one of the best centres outside the Premiership. Pieter Muller swooped for the 25 year old current Canadian international when his availability became known. He was surprisingly released by Coventry at the end of last season when he had been named as the inside centre in the Coach’s poll for the National One dream team.
Cannon, capped 28 times for Canada and with World Cup experience, arrived back in the UK at the weekend after taking a break from competitive rugby in Canada and was at Castle Park to see his new colleagues pull off an exciting win over his old club. He said “I really look forward to playing with these guys. They have a strong spirit in the squad and I am sure the team will do well at this level. The facilities and organisation at Castle Park are superb and I look forward to my time at Doncaster”.
At 1.87m and 100 kg Cannon will add considerably to the Doncaster midfield.
