Planchant

(Includes Audio Interview)

Doncaster Knights have boosted their 08/09 campaign hopes by ensuring the services of popular No 8 Chris Planchant, who joined the club from Waterloo pre season.

Welshman Planchant broke into the side after a long term injury to influential captain Glen Wilson, being given the chance to impress by Lynn Howells. Delaying a dip into the transfer market was a gamble that paid off as the 26 year old forward has made the position his own, his recent man of the match performance against Plymouth Albion being a testament to his growing confidence.

Lynn Howell’s gave us this comment. “I gave him an opportunity, and wanted to make sure he got a good run of games before I made a judgement. Giving the lad just a few games was going to prove nothing, I’m glad Chris has come through this test and this contract extension is well deserved”

With more contract extensions under discussion, Planchant may not be the only Knight signing up for another season campaigning under the Knights banner.
