Mini Junior Festival News

Sunday 6th April is a chance to join in the biggest date in Castle Parks Mini Junior rugby tradition as the venue throws open its doors to give people a chance to watch the Juniors compete against teams from around the country.

The £2.8m Castle Park Function Centre will be open all day to help provide refreshments

The mini section are the youngest participants at Castle Park their ages range from six to twelve years., with all of them taking part in competitive rugby with busy fixture lists throughout the season. Even the youngest age group the Under 7’s complete home and away fixtures, recently defeating a visiting Sheffield side over 2 games which brought much pride to the club.

This season is proving to be the busiest yet, due to the RFU continuum we are only allowed to have ten teams per age group.

The teams taking part on Apr 6th include:

Tring, Northampton Casuals, Driffield, Goole, Grimsby, Selby, Dinnington, Nottingham

Sheffield, Waterloo, Paviours, Hull Ionians, and not forgetting, of course, our home team Doncaster.

You will notice that some of these teams are not quite local. Mini Junior rugby is so strong in Doncaster we attract Country wide opposition and we’d like to invite you down to the boys and girls of Doncaster defend our tradition against the visiting teams.

Waterloo visited us last season on tour and forged a fantastic link with our current under 12's.

Northampton Casuals and Doncaster under 11's proved what rugby is all about, when one young man who was visiting for the Northampton game, he played for Doncaster in the sevens festival. He too made friends and it is pleasing to know that he is bringing his team mates from home to visit us.

Tring are on tour in this area for the first time, we are really looking forward to a fantastic day of rugby and forging new friendships.

Not only is there quality rugby on show we have a fantastic raffle where you could Win a Subaru for the weekend as well as many other prizes. Also available is the Samurai roadshow, a tombola stall, a sweet stall, face painting, BBQ, bar and our very own special guest Donny the Knight.

Doncaster Mini Section is also pleased to have our very own photographer who will be wandering around taking photographs that will be available to purchase on the day.

Our first game kicks off at 10:30 so If you enjoy rugby, or just a good day out come on down to Castle Park, Armthorpe Road, Doncaster.
