Doncaster Knights are pleased to have signed 25 year old back row forward Adam Kettle from Plymouth Albion on a two year contract. Adam can play any position in the back row, and his versatility will be a boost for the Knights.
Adam stands 6’4” and weighs 16 stone and impressed Director of Rugby Lynn Howells in both matches against the Knights this season. Adam started his senior rugby career in 2001 with New Brighton for whom he played over 100 1st XV games. In 2005 he played for North Otago and was placed third in Division 2 in the Most Valuable Player competition, run by Air New Zealand throughout the 2005 season, with rugby writers from 27 provinces across the country rating the performance of players in all three divisions of the Air New Zealand NPC each week. The rugby writers awarded points to a team's top three players in each game (three points for best, two points for second and one point for third) to come up with the best players from each of the 27 Provincial Unions.
On his return from New Zealand he joined Bedford and played well against the Knights in both games. At the end of last season he joined Plymouth Albion.
Adam made 13 starts for the Albion and 13 appearances from the bench. He also managed to be their highest points scorer despite his limited chances which bodes well for a player in his mid 20’s.
