So near yet so far, a wet muddy day at Selby saw a determined under sevens force their way to a draw in the final of the festival only to loose out on a count back to previous results. The day saw Doncaster pitched against some strong opposition, and They started with a hard fought draw against Pocklington. After a short break to dry out, the team was back in action, in back to back games, and after a narrow defeat to West Park Leeds in the last play of the match, The team bounced back to overpower Selby and faced a nervous wait to see if they had earned a place in the semi - finals.
having scored more tries than their opponents, Doncaster progressed to the semi - final, and now they believed anything was possible, and it was. The self belief was their for everyone to see, and at the final whistle the boys had got themselves a place in the final. The final, gave them a chance to overturn the earlier defeat to West Park. At the final whistle, with a couple of disallowed tries to look back on, the scores were level. everyone waited as the officials counted up the tries, and with both teams on 34 tries for the day, it was back to the earlier games, and the team were left to rue the last minute try defeat to west park earlier in the day. The team were a credit to the club, and it is difficult to pick out any stars as everyone played their part - well done boys !!
