Doncaster U12’s cross the Irish Sea and live to tell the tale ……
The Force 9 crossing was the test for all passengers to start our tour to Southern Ireland, however we landed safely (MANY slightly green!) and an enjoyable weekend was in the offing.
We were hosted by two great clubs, Carrick-On-Suir and Gorey RFC where we played some great rugby, made lots of new friends, received excellent hospitality and received some wonderful compliments :-
“the boys look very smart”
“you look very intimidating all arriving together & dressed the same”
“the boys need to be congratulated on their manners & how they conduct themselves”
Our coaches encouraged a number of trips “up to Sunshine Mountain” and took our hosts with them. Great fun and a lot of rapturous applause.
The mums on tour managed to visit Waterford Crystal and spend money whilst the dads had to decide whether they liked the Irish nectar – Guinness. Despite the many samples over the weekend, we came away not knowing whether they liked it or not!
We also turned a lot of Irish heads as 70 men, women, children & rugby players walked the streets of Tramore dressed in PJ’s with teddy bears for our Presentation Evening at the local hotel! Not only that, some of our party then had to stand before the judge and jury to answer some of the most heinous crimes and face the necessary punishment! But a great time was had by all.
Would like to tell you more but ……..
