25 year old Ali Warnock was one of the fly halves at Edinburgh when Lynn coached there last season so he had no hesitation in approaching him when the opportunity arose. Ali was born in Biggar and was capped for Scotland at Under 16 level. He started playing senior rugby with his local club before moving to Hawick. Whilst there he was identified as a player with potential by the Scottish Rugby Union and was put with a special development group. Amongst his contemporaries in this group were Chris Cusiter, Ross Ford and Alastair Strockosch who are now all full caps. From Hawick, Ali joined Edinburgh before moving to the Borders as part of a restructuring plan. When the Borders failed due to lack of finance, Ali spent a season in National Division One rugby with Nottingham and he was in their side that beat the Knights 12 points to 0 three seasons ago. He moved back to Scotland to play for Boroughmuir before rejoining the full-time professional ranks at Edinburgh.
His opportunities this past season have been restricted due to the presence of the Scottish fly half Phil Godman so Ali was keen to make the move to the Knights and work again with Lynn. Most recently Ali has been involved with the Scotland 7s team in the Hong Kong sevens.
Ali is 1.83m tall and weighs 82kg. Ali is an accomplished rugby computer analyst so he will provide Lynn with all his match day statistics, etc.
