On Saturday 14th June 2008, Doncaster Minster will be holding a Mediaeval Festical as art of it's 150th anniversary celebrations. To coincide with the Festical they are holding a competition to design a heraldic shield to commemorate the annversary. You can pick up your entry form / Shield Template from Castle Park Reception during opening hours.
The Competition is open to children and young people up to the age of 16 and is split into the following categories.
Under 7's
7-9 year olds
10-12 year olds
12-14 year olds
14-16 year olds
The winners in each category will have their design made up into small wooden replica shields that will hang in the Minster throughout the year. The overall winning design will be reproduced on a ful lsized shield that will also hang in the Minster for the annicersary year.
The Shield can be of any design using, paints, crayons, felt- tip pens or coloured pencils. Remember to put your name, age and address on the back of your entry and return it to the Minster, or Castle Park (the home of the Doncaster Knights) during opening hours before June 2nd 2008.
Winners will be announced on the day of the Festival, which will also feature Doncaster Knights, who will be prearing for the 2008/09 in National Division One.
