We raised the issue with the League Chief Executive and he admitted that an error had been made and that our fixtures against Leeds should be reversed. We had to make a decision as to whether we accepted this proposed change and, after discussing the issue with Lynn Howells and Paul Morris, we agreed to leave the fixtures as they were. These commercial reasons are that, if we get approval at next week’s Special General Meeting to proceed with the West Stand Development, it will suit us to be away as much as possible during the first half of the season as we will have restricted access to parts of the ground thus minimising disruption to fans. We had to make this decision by May 5th so were unable to await the outcome of the SGM. It follows therefore that to maximise the number of fixtures we have at home in the New Year when the new facility would be available would help us optimise the fans day out. This particularly applied to the Leeds’ match which, two years ago, was our biggest game of the season. The fixture list, even as published, could be changed if Pertemp Bees win their appeal about the result of their fixture with Cornish Pirates in which case they will take the place of Sedgley Park who will then be deemed to be relegated.
