Tall order for new Knight
09.07.2008

Carl
Sad news for Luke Gross as he finally loses the title of Castle Park's tallest player, Northampton born Carl Burgess looks to have taken that title by a hairs breadth. 23 year old Carl has signed a short term contract with the Doncaster Knights to play second row, and is looking to work hard and convince Lynn Howells into awarding him a first team place. Burgess was recommended to the Knights while playing for an amateur side in Northampton, and after playing some games at Cambrdge, after only taking up the sport an amazing two years ago. Carl decided at 21 it was time for a change, after falling in with the wrong crowd and having problems with aggression. The conscious decision to change his circle of friends led him to hislocal rugby club and things ran on from there for the young father of 2. "This is a chance to play some full time rugby and work my heart out to prove myself, which is all I wanted" Carl told us down at Castle Park." Whether I succeed or not, I've turned my life around and made myself a better person". You can see Carl Burgess, along with the rest of the Knights, as they take on Worcester Warriors on 17th of August at the Castle Park.
