Congratulations to the Doncaster Phoenix team who claimed victory at the inaugural DRFC Dragons Charity Golf Day. Dan Morris, James Oakley and Dan Greenslade were accompanied by [guest] James Siddall to take the winners trophy. The guy’s secured 96 points in the Stableford event against 11 other teams. The event was organised by the Dragons and held at Styrrup Hall Golf & Country Club in order to have some fun while raising funds for the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Following the evening dinner and presentation of trophies, Dragons captain Dave Thomas said “Howard Potts and Bob Christie have done a tremendous job co-ordinating the day and the donations from so many local businesses have been fantastic. Considering this is the first time we’ve organised a golf day, the occasion has been a real success. It’s been particularly satisfying to see so many people here enjoying themselves that have an association with DRFC stretching back many years. Next year we will be better able to promote the attraction of the day as one of enjoyment and hopefully all sections of the Club will take up the offer to participate.”
We’re led to believe that the Phoenix boys will be back to defend their trophy, though the handicapper may not be so generous!
