Poker

After a fantastic night of tense, quality Poker the first ever “King of the Castle” was crowned last Friday. The Poker challenge went on until midnight with the eventual surprise crowning of Doncaster Knights own Media Manager Martin Haythorne as the first trophy holder.

The final pair contesting the pot were Simon Lewis, and Martin Haythorne. Both men had not needed to buy in all night, and were obvious contestants for the trophy from the off. The most surprising thing was that for one of them it was the first time he’d ever played Poker, a true case of beginners luck we hear

As the game neared midnight, and the deadlock looked nowhere near being broken, so a gentleman’s agreement was taken to split the pot and simply cut cards for the trophy.

The Castle Park Media Managers luck held out, and he walked out with not only half of the winnings but the Knights first silverware of the season to boot.

With the success of the first evening, and the obvious need for the Knights media man to defend his title Castle Park will be hosting the second King of the Castle tournament within the coming weeks.
