Live Updates from today's game at Meadow Lane.

“HERO” BISHOP RETURNS FOR KNIGHTS FOR SUNDAY’S VISIT TO NOTTINGHAM

For their match against 3rd placed Nottingham at Meadow Lane on Sunday, 5th placed Doncaster Knights welcome back former Irish international winger Justin Bishop after playing in the recent “Help for Heroes” Challenge match at Twickenham.

In addition to the inclusion of Bishop in place of Donavon Van Vuuren, the team shows two other changes from the previous week. In the backs, Chris Hallam swops places with Jamie Albinson at scrum half with the latter on the bench and, in the pack, fit again Tongan international prop Ngalu Ta’u replaces Michael Cusack who also moves to the bench. Knights fly half Ali Warnock plays against his former club after leaving them to play in Scotland two seasons ago.

Nottingham, after losing away at Leeds by 34 points to 19 have put together a four match winning run culminating in an excellent 31 points to 20 win at Cornish Pirates last Sunday. In between they have also beaten Plymouth 43 to 19 at home, Esher 25 to 3 away and Sedgley Park 32 to 24 at home.

Although most pundits are predicting a win for the home side, they seem to have overlooked the fact that Doncaster have a 100% record over Nottingham in the past two seasons as the following shows:

2007/8 Knights 22 Nottingham 10

Nottingham 34 Knights 40

2006/7 Knights 43 Nottingham 29

Nottingham 17 Knights 35

Let’s hope the Knights keep up this record. The match will be watched by our new Tongan signing Josh Afu who is due to arrive at Heathrow in the early hours on Sunday morning.
