GRAINGER RETURNS FOR KNIGHTS IN HOME GAME AGAINST CORNISH PIRATES ON SATURDAY

For their match against Cornish Pirates at Castle Park on Saturday, Doncaster’s Director of Rugby Lynn Howells makes three changes from the team that beat Coventry last weekend.

The Knight’s team is:

Carter, W. Davies, Tonga'uiha, Armitage, Van Vuuren, Lennard, Albinson, List, Boden, Tau, Smith, Kenworthy, Griffiths, Grainger, Afu.

Replacements: T.Davies, Toke, Cusack, Cochrane, Hallam, Warnock, G.Hughes.

The three changes that the Knights make are all within their 22 man match day squad with Jamie Albinson comes in for Chris Hallam at scrum half; Tongan international prop Ngalu Ta’u replaces Michael Cusack at prop and Simon Grainger gets the call over Neil Cochrane at flanker. Knights winger Wes Davies faces his former club whilst former Doncaster player Tom Luke is expected to be included at centre in the Pirates team. In addition, Rhys Jones, son of former Knights Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones is expected to play for the visitors at flyhalf.

Saturday will present the Knights with the opportunity to get a “monkey off their backs” as they have lost all seven games (including one cup game) against Pirates since they gained promotion into National Division One. The last three home games have all been very close with the Knights losing by 29 points to 23; 13 points 10 (cup) and 16 points to 12. It is to be hoped that the Knights will continue with the improved form that they showed against Coventry last weekend and take advantage of a Pirates side that is struggling to get into its stride. Once thing is certain however Pirates will bring with them probably the most colourful set of supporters – the Press Gang - of any team in this league.
