TOKE AND JENKINS GETS THEIR FIRST STARTS OF THE SEASON FOR KNIGHTS AWAY AT SEDGLEY PARK ON SATURDAY

For their match away gainst Sedgley Park on Saturday, Doncaster’s Director of Rugby Lynn Howells makes four changes, all in the pack, from the team that drew with Cornish Pirates last weekend.

Doncaster Knights change their entire front row for their visit to Sedgley Park with Tongan international prop Toma Toke getting his first start of the season in place of Richard List, former Exeter hooker Simon Jenkins comes in for the injured Steve Boden at hooker and Michael Cusack replaces Ngalu Tau at prop. In the back row Chris Planchant returns after injury at No 8 with Tongan international Josh Afu switching to flanker to allow Bryn Griffiths to move into the second row in place of Dan Smith who drops to the bench. Scrum half Jamie Albinson plays against his old club whilst the Knights expect to come up against their former back row forward Ollie Cook.

When they were coming up through the divisional and national leagues together it was Sedgley Park who mostly had the upper hand getting promotion the year ahead of Doncaster on each occasion. In their first year together in National Division One both sides won their home game but since then the full-time Knights have gone ahead of the semi-professional Sedgley Park side. The Knights have won all four of their last encounters averaging just under 50 points a game whilst conceding an average of 13. Knights fans will be hoping for a repeat performance from their side on Saturday.

2 mins: Sedgley have the first line out of the game, which they lose as its not straight. Doncaster defending a scrum in their own half, defended well & Jamie Lennard kicks down field, Doncaster close in on the man with the ball and force a scrum.

4 mins: From the scrum Doncaster are awarded a penalty for a Sedgley infringement, Jamie Lennard makes the penalty attempt. (3-0)

8 mins: After gaining 20 metres following a good scrum, Jamie Lennard goes for the drop gaal & is successful. (6-0)

10 mins: Jones makes succesful penalty kick for Segdley from the half way line after Michael Cusack was cought offside. (6-3)

14-16 mins: Sedgely penalised for a forward pass when they looked to be in a good position to break down the left side. Doncaster now have a scrum & are now attacking down the middle, the referee awards Doncaster a penalty which Jamie Lennard puts away. (9-3)

19 mins: Sustitution: Richard List replaces Toma Toke, Doncaster are penalised, Sedgley now attacking down the left after winning a line out, their move is ended by a super tackle from Simon Grainger & Doncaster now have a scrum. (9-3)

22 mins: Sedgley have a scrum as a result as a knock on, they keep possession and break well down the left only for the winger to pass wildly & allow Wes Davies to pick up the ball and take it forward. (9-3)

26 mins: Sedgley win their line out on half way and are taking the ball forward with the forwards. The referee awards them a penalty, they take a quick tap & break nicely through the middle. Donavan Van Vuuren intercepts a wide pass & runs 50 metres to touch down just wide of the posts. Jamie Lennard makes the conversion. (16-3)

30-32 mins: Doncaster win a line out in the Sedgley half & are attacking with the forwards. The referee stops play and awards Doncaster a penalty, Jamie Lennard kicks to the corner. Josh Afu wins the line out but the ball is lost & sedgley have a scrum. (16-3)

33-36 mins: Doncaster steal the ball back at the scrum & now have one of their own, which they’ve won & are now only metres from the line. The referee blows for an earlier infringement at the scrum & oncaster have another penalty attempt for Jamie Lennard, which he makes. (19-3)

38 mins: Sedgley have a scrum 10 metres into the Doncaster half, they’ve kept the ball & spread it nicely to the right, but a kick forward by the sedgley stand off finds touch & Doncaster have a scrum near halfway. (19-3)

40+ mins: Doncaster win their scrum & are taking the ball forward, but lose it via a knock on. Doncaster steal the ball back straight away from the resulting scrum & Jamie Lennard kicks downfield forcing Sedgley to defend a line out deep in their half. Sedgley did win the line out but lose the ball as Chris Planchant steals it. As Doncaster are gaining ground the referee awards them a penalty & Jamie Lennard puts it away to bring the half to an end. (22-3)

Second Half.

41 mins: Doncaster force a line out midway into the Sedgley half, Hudson Tonga’uiha fails to take a pass, however the Sedgley player knocks on immediately so the referee brings play back for a scrum. (22-3)

43-45 mins: Doncaster managed to regain possession & start to attack down the right, but the move is ended illegally by sedgley & Jamie Lennard kicks to the corner. Doncaster win the line out are inches from the line, Bryn Griffiths takes the ball over the line to score. Jamie Lennard makes the conversion. (29-3)

47 mins: Bryn Griffiths scores his second try of the game after a good chip and chase, Jamie Lennard misses the conversion. (34-3)

49 mins: Great tackle by Antony Carter stops their winger for scoring & Doncaster manage to clear the ball after Sedgley had broke really well from the restart. (34-3)

51 mins: Bryn is penalised, giving Sedgley a line out to attack in the Doncaster half. They win the ball and awarded a second penalty for interference, this time Doncaster steal the ball at the line & clear the ball upfield. (34-3)

54 mins: Doncaster defending a scrum in their half, Jamie Lennard kicks deep, only for the fullback to return the favour & Doncaster come away with a line out just past half way. (34-3)

56-59 mins: Antony Carter goes for a quick throw in but its not straight & Sedgley have a scrum. Doncaster managed to force a player to hold on & have got the ball back. Good work by the Sedgley forwards gets them the ball back & they spread it wide nicely, only for Bevan Armitage to force their player into touch. (34-3)

62 mins: Towson is sent to the bin for Sedgley & Jamie Albinson is replaced by Chris Hallam. Doncaster break forward as a result of the penalty & Hudson Tonga’uiha gets the vital fourth try for Doncaster to earn the bonus point. Jamie Lennard makes the conversion. (41-3)

64 mins: Glen Kenworthy is replaced by Dan Smith after Doncaster ended what was looking like a good attack from Sedgley. (41-3)

66 mins: Sedgley have a scrum after some interference by a Doncaster player, having won the scrum Sedgley are taking the ball forward the right, only for Antony Carter to palm what was an attempted kick and chase from their winger into touch. Neil Cochrane comes on to replace Simon Grainger. (41-3)

70 mins: After exchanging kicks, the Sedgley full back finds touch & Doncaster have a line out on half way. They win the ball & attack down the centre only for play to be stopped by the referee. Doncaster have a scrum as Ali Warnock comes on for Antony Carter. (41-3)

72 mins: Donavan Van Vuuren replaced by George Hughes. Doncaster lose the ball in midfield, the Sedgely winger makes a great run down the right hand side & looked like scoring only for a pass inside to be collected by Wes Davies. Michael Cusack is replaced by Tom Davies. (41-3)

74-78 mins: After winning the scrum Sedgley spread the ball into the centre but have lost the ball again via a knock on. Doncaster penalised at the scrum & Sedgley have a penalty five metres from the line. Doncaster defend well, only for the Sedgley stand off to kick to the corner & force Wes Davies to put the ball in touch. Sedgley in the resulting scrum and are awarded another penalty on the line, now only yards from the line the referee blows for a scrum. (41-3)

79 mins: Doncaster defend the scrum resolutely and steal the ball back, Jamie Lennard kicks down field to clear the ball, but Doncaster are penalised just past halfway & Sedgely start to bring the ball forwards again through the forwards. Doncaster are awarded a penalty for a Sedgely infringement at the breakdown & Jamie Lennard has a chance to kick a penalty again, which he puts wide. (41-3)

80+ mins: Sedgley have started play again, running the ball from deep in their half, Ali Warnock kicks deep & Sedgley restart again from their 22, Doncaster get the ball back but lose it wide & the referee brings play back for a scrum. Segdely won the scrum and began to take the ball forward, but the referee has blown his whistle to bring the game to an end. (41-3)
