James Criddle Appointed as New Chief Executive

Now that Doncaster Rugby Football Club Ltd’s (DRFC) operations at Castle Park have grown so considerably, it has been decided by the Board to appoint a full time, paid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Until now, the club has been indebted to John Lowe who has given willingly and voluntarily of his time over the years to fulfil many roles but, in particular, the existing role of Chief Executive to the Board. John has now reached that ripe old age whereby he wishes to take life a little easier and to focus on his first love – rugby!

Following a selection process, the Board have appointed Mr James Criddle to the post of CEO. James will take up his full time post on 12th June 2006 but will assist the Board with transitional processes on a part time basis until then. John Lowe’s retirement from the role of CEO will therefore occur alongside James’ commencement in the role.

James has a significant background in finance with his latter two appointments being at Steetley Dolomite Ltd. and thereafter at the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust. He will have prime responsibility for keeping DRFC on the financial “straight and narrow” as the business continues to grow and will act as the Board’s representative in all company matters.

Existing departments will report to James, but it is envisaged that the inherent principle of “team play” will pertain not only on the playing field but in the daily operations of the whole of DRFC Ltd.

James is married and lives in Tickhill. As a point of interest, his great-grandfather was a past President of DRFC in the early part of last century!
