......Clive Griffiths has bolstered the Doncaster pack with the significant signing of Kiwi prop, John Rawson, from Leicester Tigers.
The 30 year old, 1.78m and 106kg, tight head prop made 15 appearances for the Tigers in the Premiership last season and brings a wealth of top class experience to Castle Park. He moved to the UK in 2003 after playing his rugby in Auckland to join Rotherham where he made 40 appearances before his move to Leicester in mid season 2004/05. At Clifton Lane he was playing alongside several players now in Doncaster colours so wont feel a stranger at Castle Park. He said “I wasn’t getting enough game time at Tigers as they were understandably trying to develop younger players. I had several options open to me but my girlfriend lives in this area and Clive Griffiths’ vision of what Doncaster can do, and the great facilities here, made my mind up for me quite easily! I am looking forward to being part of an exciting set up.”
Griffiths had been looking for a strong prop and is delighted with this latest acquisition. Clive said “John will bring the type of aggressive strength to the front row that we will need to compete with the top packs in this division, and the cover needed to see through a long season.”
