U15s 2008/09 The playing squad for the new season (minus one or two absentees)
Match ReportDinnington 0 - Doncaster 52 Sunday 21st September 2008 Tries: Brad Taylor, Shane Hill, Tom Coy, Jack Houghton (2), Alex Pugh, Declan Cook, Edward Chipp Conversions: Declan Cook (6) After a difficult win against Wheatley last Sunday, Doncaster recorded an impressive victory away at Dinnington. Doncaster started strongly and after 5 minutes Brad Taylor raced in from 30 metres to score in the left corner. From the kick off, Doncaster camped on Dinnington’s line and continued to dominate in the forwards, allowing their half backs to dictate the game. After 11 minutes, Doncaster were awarded a penalty and quick thinking Tom Coy crashed over from close range, Cook converting an easy opportunity. Doncaster’s expansive style of rugby saw them continually on the attack and “comedy fullback” Shane Hill, playing at outside centre, crashed through the defence to score after 20 minutes, Cook converting. Dinnington’s defence held out for another 10 minutes until Jack Houghton drifted through a static back line to score in the left corner with Cook converting from a difficult angle. Half Time score 26-0. Doncaster made a number of changes at half time and continued to dominate as Dinnington began to tire. After 37 minutes, Jack Houghton scored his second try, Cook adding the extra points. The forwards never stopped working for each other and some excellent passing between forwards and backs allowed Alex Pugh to score in the corner after 43 minutes. Doncaster continued to press and it was only due to some resolute defence that stopped Doncaster extending their lead. After 57 minutes, Doncaster’s forwards drove close to the home side’s line and won quick ball to allow stand off Declan Cook to dummy the defence to score on the right and subsequently convert his own try. From the restart, Alex “Buster” Keeton fed Edward Chipp to score under the posts from 50 metres. Cook once more making no mistake with the kick. Full Time score 52-0. This was a very pleasing performance from the whole squad with a number of individuals playing out of position. Although the score looks one sided, Dinnington never gave in throughout the game and it was played in an excellent spirit throughout. A special mention should be made to the referee, who allowed the game to flow making it an excellent game to watch for both sets of supporters. Michael Cook
