This group is for players who are aged 7 and 8 years old. They introduce the children to rugby via the game of Tag. This is a non-contact game where the children wear two tags each on a belt and instead of being tackled they pull each other's tag off to force a pass of the ball. The children learn the normal rules of rugby such as backward passing, knock on and off side but they learn it through playing games and generally having a good time. We train on a Sunday morning from 10.30am to 12 noon and usually end up in the club house for some dinner and a drink afterwards. We do also play other teams both at home and away including Sandal, Hull, Grimsby and Market Rasen to name a few. The children keep fit, learn a sport and do all this through games and fun. There is a big emphasis on enjoying themselves and although it is nice to win a game against another team, our aim is for the children to just do their best and enjoy rugby. Sometimes we support the first team by providing mascots which the children really enjoy. The under 8’s coaches are all RFU Level 1 qualified. If you would like more information about your child joining either of these teams please contact one of our coaches who will be pleased to help or just come along to the club and join in.
