The Season kicked off with the Demons in high spirits and well psyched up for their first match. During the opening minutes Apple ran from the half way line up hill to score the Demons first try, which Psycho (Gemma) successfully converted.
Huddersfield came straight back at the Demons and scored their first try, which they failed to convert. After 10 minutes of pressure the Demons scored two tries in succession, scored again by Apple. Unfortunately Psycho didn’t manage to convert and the score was a healthy looking 5-17 to the Demons. Huddersfield replied
again with another try but again failed to convert. Just before the half time whistle new comer Beanie (Liana) scored her first try for the Demons, again Psycho failed to convert. The half time score stood at 10-22 to the Demons.
Huddersfield seemed to pick up their game in the second half. However, Psycho scored what must be her easiest try in her rugby career! Demons kicked off, “Barbie” from Huddersfield picked up the ball and ran towards her own try line shouting “am I going the right way?”, to which the Demon Captain replied “Yes keep running”. The Demons turned the ball over and Psycho scored under the post and then successfully converted it. Huddersfield then came back at the Demons with three tries in quick succession, leading to the final score 25-29 to the Demons.
This was an excellent start for the Ladies with good tackles being made all over the pitch. The foundations are laid all that is left is to build on it.
The Girl of the Game is Trumpet (Gemma Ogilvy) for making some awesome tackles.
Well done girls a fantastic game.
The Demons are playing at HOME Next week against Darlington (although we have still to get confirmation from them) KO 1400. |
