Doncaster Phoenix 2^nd XV 57    Scunthorpe 6^th XV 0

With Sheffield 3^rd withdrawing at a late stage from the anticipated Merit table game, Phoenix 2^nd’s were grateful to Scunthorpe who sent over a team on the Saturday to enable them to stretch their legs.

With the teams split to create 14 players a side it was  a one sided affair with the referee losing count at 57 in the home side’s favour.

Notable players of the day were: Charles Foster who tackled and outpaced the ‘Scunny’ defence to go over at ease combined with Meadows sharing the spotlight to bag a few tries apiece.

Skidmore bossed the pack at his introduction in the second half and allergy both Mcnally’s put in a good show with No 8 Matt Williams prevalent around the park.

Again thanks to Scunthorpe who ensured our two’s were given a run about on the official first Saturday of the season.
