Doncaster Phoenix 2nd XV 14 Yarnbury 32
Doncaster Phoenix 2nd XV entertained Yarnbury 2’s in a game that a strongly drilled visitors came away with the points but the home side took the satisfaction of giving a well developed set up a run for their money.
It was Yarnbury who opened the scoring early with a try but Phoenix took this as a wake up call and responded with a try from Shandy Lowcock at centre – managing to keep hold of the ball this week!
In a half which saw even exchanges the half time score was 18-14 with another score coming from centre Lowcock.
On the turn round it was still even exchanges until half through the half when as a result of poor defence the home side succumbed and conceded a further two tries to go down t o a competent well drilled Leeds side.
On the day the props Fielding and Mundy looked good supported by the power play tactics of Lowcock at centre with the highlight being the long rolling maul to set up the home score. However in a game played in excellent spirit it was Yarnbury who maintained their unbeaten record in this league. |
