The Phoenix 2's also suffered a defeat as their 1st Xv counterparts - they did at least put up a performance against an outfit 2 divisions higher and had they played with a bit more confidence then the result could have been even closer.
The home side let the visitors take control of the game with a couple of sloppy tries which were stoppable before they relaised if thye ran with the ball then they could do things the half time score 17-3 with young Neilson popping over the Phoenix penalty.
With a new found confidence Phoenix repsonded with Wes Malton bundling himself over and Lee Colcombe adding a fine individual effort with his first touch of the ball opting to kick and chase.
Brods then sealed the game with their impressive centre bagging a brace before Taylor got the consolation supporting a Woodcock chip ahd chase to be on hand to score a deserved try.
As individuals the team played well and with a bit more belief could have got closer notable performances Taylor, Woodcock, Nithsdale with the colts debutants of Jones and Hall proving their worth too! |
