Private Physio

Private physiotherapy available from former Knights Head Physiotherapist

Physiotherapy can help a range of musculoskeletal conditions. These may include muscle strains, ligament sprains, overuse injuries, post-surgery rehabilitation or joint problems. The use of manual therapy techniques, soft tissue massage, acupuncture and electrotherapy are used to promote healing.

This is complemented with advice regarding posture and progressive rehabilitation to aid recovery.

To arrange an appointment contact Vicky Chapman on 01302 321245.

We asked Vicky to tell us something about her background and practice:

What is Chapman Physiotherapy?

Chapman Physiotherapy was formed in 2007 by Vicky Chapman, at the time head physiotherapist to the Knights. Working closely with a network of surgeons both locally and nationally, Vicky wanted to provide a tailored service to her clients whether they required a 'one-off' opinion or more specific rehabilitation program. The practise was initially set up at Castle Park though in March 2010 it moved to purpose built premises on Heather Court. It now benefits from a private studio gym for rehabilitation or personal training, full disabled access and door to door parking.

We offer a friendly service, open late most evenings and will even come in extra early if you really want us to. Our staff all work in elite sport because it keeps us up to date and we enjoy it. However, we are available to everyone. The age of our clients ranges from 9 to 95 (so far) but we are always looking to beat records! So whether you have a niggling joint that you'd like some advice on, have had an operation or merely want some motivation in the gym or a relaxing massage, give us a ring and we'll book you in.

Where is it based?

Chapman Physiotherapy, Heather Court, Shaw Wood Way, Doncaster, DN2 5YL.

What services are offered?

I am available to treat predominantly musculoskeletal conditions ranging from work related disorders, overuse conditions, joint pain, sprains, strains to post surgery rehabilitation. And of course, sports related injuries are also welcomed!! A full assessment of the condition will be undertaken at the initial assessment and then a plan of treatment agreed with the patient. This treatment may include manual therapy (hands-on joint mobilisations), electrotherapy (such as ultrasound), acupuncture, exercise therapy or massage. If a home exercise programme is deemed necessary, a print-out of the exercises will be provided.

About me

I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2002 with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Following this I worked at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for four years whilst working at Doncaster Knights part-time, and I then went on to complete an MSc in Sport Injury at the University of Sheffield. When the club went full-time I was approached to continue my role as first team physiotherapist but in a full-time capacity! In 2010, after nine years with the Knights i left Castle Park to work full time at Chapman Phyiostheraphy.

What was the highlight of working with the Knights?

I would have to say that winning the Division 2 title and gaining promotion to the Championship was the highlight of my time with the Knights. Though the success we achieved in our first season in the Championship was a close runner up. I grew up following Northampton Saints (dare I say it), so when we played them a few seasons ago that was a highlight.
