Scunthorpe Colts 10 Doncaster Colts 32

This local derby was always going to be interesting, It’s over 18 months since the two side have played each other.

With Scunthorpe Colts being allowed to play in the Yorkshire league the points from this fixture were vital.

With Doncaster having a number of centres playing for Yorkshire a number of players play out of position again including a flanker playing at 10.

Scunthorpe were quickly on the scoreboard after 8 mins with a try in the corner but failed with the conversation.

Within in 10 minutes Doncaster had two penalties making the score 5 – 6 putting Donny colts back in the game.

The first 20 minutes of play by Doncaster was fragmented and they then started to show signs of the previous games ability and started to gel and settle down.

At times Scunthorpe threatened the Doncaster defence but the defensive play was a credit to the lads. The Doncaster lads attacking play and support was very good at times but generally good throughout the game.

A few missed tackles let Scunthorpe break and gain line but the Doncaster lads quickly re grouped and put the home team again under pressure.

The second half saw Doncaster add more points to the score sheet and the only points Scunthorpe managed was a penalty 3 points for the second half despite being on Doncaster 5 mtr line twice the visitors defence proved to be unforgiving.

With a number of opportunities for Doncaster lost over the try line would have widened the score but that’s rugby!

This was a good clean game from both sides with very few penalties given by either side.

The final score ended 10  – 32 to Doncaster.
